I am a Lecturer in Public Law and Human Rights at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. My research focuses on liberty of conscience and religious freedom; constitutionalism and constitutional review; and the theoretical foundations of human rights.
At Manchester, I convene the Human Rights and Advanced Human Rights courses, and am Deputy Director of the LLB programme. I am a member of the Manchester Centre for Regulation, Governance and Public Law (ManReg), and co-direct its Public Law Seminar Series. I am also Co-Convenor of the Manchester Asian Law Group (MALG), and an affiliate member of the Manchester International Law Centre (MILC).
I hold a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Advanced Japanese Studies) and a Bachelor of Laws (with first class honours and the university medal) from the University of New South Wales, Australia, and a PhD in Law (passing without corrections) from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.
In addition to my academic work, I enjoy creative writing, photography and recording music. I won a First Five Pages genre prize at the Stockholm Writers Festival for my draft novel. My music can be heard on Spotify and other services.
